Bio: Cassandra Becker, MS, RDN, LDN, cPT is a Registered Dietitian, Personal Trainer and Nutrition Communication Specialist located in Charlotte, NC. Her specialties include both individual and corporate wellness. She has experience counseling clients one-on-one in hospitals, gyms, workplace, and now virtual settings and has also led multiple weight management and healthy eating programs. Cassandra’s interest in integrative and functional nutrition started when she developed food allergies from a trip to Haiti. She received care from a functional practitioner who was able to find parasites using comprehensive stool tests and treat them using a combination of therapeutic diet, supplements, botanicals, and lifestyle changes. She discovered the importance of good gut health and that treating the underlying root cause of disease is more effective than only treating the symptoms. She also experienced first-hand the power of lifestyle interventions focusing on stress management, optimizing nutrition, good sleep hygiene, and physical activity. Cassandra grew up in Andover, Massachusetts and now reside in Denver Colorado. She enjoys Barre classes and skiing, practicing harp and opera, cooking up tasty and nutritious concoctions in the kitchen (including presentation – e.g. cutting rosebuds out of strawberries), and meeting with friends over a steamy cup of tea or thrift store adventure. As a side note, she loves to travel and have visited eight countries, which has given her a new perspective on health and nutrition
My Ideal Client: Due to my expertise and client volume load, I am unable to take clients that require a lot of hand holding outside of sessions. I work best with clients that are highly motivated, able to follow directions, eager to learn and ready to make lifestyle changes to achieve their goals. My style is to teach while we work – my motto is: if you understand it, you are more likely to do it. I provide tough love and not afraid to call clients out on their BS but also have a gentile and kind demeanor.
Fueled by her own health struggles and a deep passion for nutrition education, she has held positions in clinical, community, research, and private practice settings, all centered around teaching people how to live healthy and fulfilling lifestyles by getting to the root causes of their health issues.
Her nutrition communication experience includes working at Balance Your Life, a healthy lifestyle campaign on the Tufts University undergraduate campus aimed to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors. She has also been featured in Tufts Nutrition Magazine, Tufts Nutrition Letter, Self Magazine, and Reader’s Digest, as well as having several scientific publications.
Cassandra holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science from Wheaton College (IL) and a Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics from Simmons College. She completed her dietetics training at Tufts Medical Center and has a Master of Science in Nutrition Communication from the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy.
Personally, Cassandra loves nothing more than cooking great dinners and exploring new foods. She is originally from Boston, MA, but now resides in Colorado. She enjoys Zumba and turbo kick, relaxing poolside, cooking up tasty and nutritious concoctions in the kitchen (including presentation – e.g. cutting rosebuds out of strawberries), and meeting with friends over a steamy cup of tea or thrift store adventure. As a side note, she loves to travel and has visited nine countries, which has given her a new perspective on health and nutrition.
